A Short Visit

This afternoon we were able to take Eva just outside the doors of the ICU in a wheelchair so that she could see the boys.  They were jumping up and down as the doors opened.  She had to wear a mask, so you can't see her smile, but she was just as excited as they were.

Brennen drew a picture of her and gave her a ladybug necklace, and Declan brought a stuffed monkey.  They didn't get to spend more than about five minutes with her, but the time was precious to all of them.

This afternoon was rough after the boys left.  The pain got out of control, and Eva shut down and wouldn't respond to us.  It was scary...until the narcotics worked through the IV and she came back.  We have a new pain medication regime, so hopefully that won't happen again.  It means that we'll probably be in the ICU until Sunday, and maybe to a regular room Sunday night.  They won't let her leave the ICU on IV meds - it has to be just oral Tylenol w/codeine.  Then she needs to be more mobile, eating and drinking well, and basically able to walk out on her own before they'll let her go home.  I'm thinking Tuesday?

Christopher has to go to Maryland on Wednesday. I think my mom and dad will have to help me get the boys back and forth to school.

Thankfully my wonderful friend Lisa made a chicken pot pie and put it in our freezer so I don't have to worry about what to cook for dinner the first night or two home!

I bought Eva a singing balloon and it is LOUD!  I had to close the door because you could hear it at the nurse's station, and we are in the last room at the end of the hall.  It's as big as she is!
